It’s a big step walking into a gym for the first time when a) you’ve never been in one before or b) it’s been a long time and you’re taking the steps towards long term fitness.
So, what are you going to do when you get in there and what if you’re ‘doing it wrong’? Even the athletes make mistakes but understanding the basics is really going to give you a solid start when it comes to movements used in a gym setting. What are we talking about?
The Basic Movements You Need
It’s vital when you first start in a gym or even going to classes, that you understand how to move your body and how those movements should feel when you’re doing them correctly. This helps prevent serious injuries, strains, sprains and exercise fatigue. There’s nothing worse than going full force into a class and being out of action for the next fortnight recovering.
Here’s what we teach you in our Beginners Classes:
- Air Squats
- Front Squats (with equipment)
- Strict Press (with equipment)
- Push Press (with equipment)
- Wall Balls
- Pull Ups
- Toes 2 Bar
You can do these, trust us – but at your own level. So, by that we mean when you work through each movement, you’re only holding the weighted equipment that’s suitable for your current strength and capability. AND everyone starts with the lightest!
Coach is with you at all times during Beginners Classes and if there’s something you can’t do, we know how to get you on the path to achieving it – we’ll show you the baby steps.
